The Inlet Highway Department consists of four full-time employees plus the Highway Superintendent. Our office and garage is located on Limekiln Road directly in front of the Transfer Station building. During the winter months our normal office hours are 6 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday. Starting in the month of April, we work from 6 am until 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday.
We have two tandem axle dump trucks that are both dressed to plow snow. The department also has a front end loader, backhoe, skid-steer, wood chipper, a one ton mini dump and a grader.
We are responsible for plowing the town and county roads during the winter. We also plow Route 28 from the county line near Eagle Bay all the way to Golden Beach Campground in Raquette Lake.
The rest of the year we maintain our town roads. We grade and rake our dirt sections and make sure there is proper drainage on the road sides. We also perform many other tasks throughout the year as well. You can stay informed by visiting our Facebook page Inlet Highway.
