FAQs:
What area does the proposed sewer district cover?
The proposed sewer district would include all parcels in the downtown area along the north side of Route 28 from the Stuart property next to the American Legion Building & Garage (once called Arrowhead Trading Post-more recently Mouse in the Attic) heading east to St. Anthony's Church, on the south side of Route 28 from Mary's Gift Shop heading east to Delmarsh's building (the last building on Route 28 before Fifth Lake), and going up the South Shore Road to include the Inlet Marina and the Schanz/Smith property on the opposite side of the South Shore Road.  This also includes all of the Arrowhead Park property and all of the parcels behind the Inlet Town Hall along the channel between Fourth Lake and Fifth Lake.
Is the petition ready to be signed?
Yes.  As of 8:00 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 you will be able to walk into the Town Clerk's Office during her regular hours and read the petition.  The petition must be signed in front of a notary (in this case the Inlet Town Clerk).  The Inlet Town Clerk's Office is open Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-12:00 PM & 1:00-3:00 PM.  If you can not make it into her office during these hours, please call to make an appointment. 315-357-5771
Who can sign the petition?
Anyone who is within the proposed district and is named on the assesment role can sign the petition.  A copy of said assessment role can be found in the Town Clerk's Office.  If you are not sure if you are in the proposed district, please contact the Town Clerk at 315-357-5771.
What if more than one person is named on the assessment role?
If more than one person is named on the assessment role, only ONE person can sign the petition.
What if the property is listed under a corporation?
If the property is listed under a corporation only ONE person from that corportaion can sign the petition, and that person must bring with them something in writing stating that they are authorized to represent said corporation.
What if a person, persons or a corporation own more than one parcel within the proposed district?
If a person, persons or a corporation own more than one parcel, only ONE person is allowed to sign the petition.  However, the assessed value of all parcels owned by the person, persons or corporation will count towards the assessed valuation of all taxable real property in the proposed district.
Where would the treatment plant be located for the proposed sewer district?
The proposed location for the treatment plant for the proposed sewer district would be Fern Park.  Fern Park is town owned and offers adequate space for the plant and separation from surrounding homes.  The outfall is proposed to extend 500 feet into Fourth Lake.
Does the Town's property (i.e. Arrowhead Park) count towards the assesed value?
No.  Since property owned by the Town is not taxable, any such Town property will be ommitted from consideration (it should not count toward "all taxable real property") and, therefore, the petition will not be signed on behalf of the Town.
What does the petition need before it can be acted on?
The petition requires signatures from (1) owners totaling at least one half of the assessed valuation of all taxable property in the proposed district, and (2) full-time resident owners totaling at least one half the assessed valuation of all taxable real property owned by full-time resident owners.  Signatures of seasonal residents within the proposed district will count towards requirement (1) but not towards requirement (2).
